AMATPS

The Automatic Message Accounting Teleprocessing System (AMATPS) is a protocol designed by Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bell Communications Research, better known as Bellcore) for downloading billing data over X.25 from telephone switches such as the Siemens EWSD series. Advanced Relay's implementation conforms to the AMATPS specification as described in Telcordia Technologies Generic Requirements GR-385-CORE, Issue 2, October 2001.

Advanced Relay has ported its AMATPS implementation to run on the PXS. For this application, the PXS is directly connected to an AMAT switch as a front-end processor. Using an X.25 virtual circuit, it downloads billing records from the switch and forwards them to a remote file server over TCP/IP where the records are written to disk. All of the details related to X.25 and the AMATPS protocol are handled inside the PXS. During operation, the PXS logs its activities to a remote log server.
