X.25 Network Server - xnet

The X.25 Network Server, xnet, is an enhanced version of the xportal server for the LayGO PXS. xnet is designed to completely replace an existing X.25 network infrastructure with TCP/IP.

While xportal listens only on a TCP/IP port for incoming connect requests to X.25 virtual circuits, xnet listens for connections on both the TCP/IP port and the X.25 virtual circuits. When a call request is received on a switched virtual circuit (or data is received on a permanent virtual circuit), xnet establishes a TCP connection to an IP address and TCP port number indicated by an X.25 Address Map. The address can be that of either another xnet or xportal server, or a program running on a PC or workstation written to the xportal API which is listening on that port.

The address map can be held locally on each PXS or can be made available through an X.25 Map Server.
