PXS Hardware

The PXS uses the Samsung S3C4530A ARM7 44 MHz 32-bit microprocessor. The S3C4530A has one built-in 10/100 Ethernet port, two synchronous ports and two asynchronous ports. The PXS includes 4 MB of non-volatile flash memory and 8 MB RAM. The PXS is housed in a small stainless steel box (4.9 x 3.8 x 0.9).

The synchronous ports support bit-synchronous HDLC and transparent mode. Through the latter, we emulate monosynchronous and bisynchronous operation. Both synchronous ports are software programmable for RS-232, RS-422 (RS-530, X.21, RS-449), and V.35. The first port supports half- and full-duplex RS-485. The external and internal asynchronous ports are RS-232 only. We offer cables for the following interfaces: RS-232 (DB25), EIA-530 (DB25), X.21 (DB15), V.35 (Winchester). Other cables can be made to order.

The synchronous ports use two high-density female DB26 connectors. The external asynchronous port, normally used for console connection, is accessible via a male DB9 connector. The second asynchronous port is for debugging purposes and is only accessible with the cover removed. The Ethernet port auto-detects 10/100 Mbps, and whether the connection is to a computer or a hub/switch ("auto MDIX"). The PXS uses 5V provided by an external power supply.
